I have two Gateway computers with Realtek SD card readers. On both computers, the card readers suddenly stopped working after some recent Windows updates. The computers are as follows:
Gateway SX2380, running windows 8.1
Realtek Card Reader Driver
Gateway SX2185, running windows 10
I have attached below a screenshot of the device manager before the update on the SX2185 and then after the update, and the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader has disappeared from the device manager after the update.I have also attached a screenshot of the updates.
It seems to me that there may be a problem with the recent updates, can someone please look into this and advise.

2017-03-30 UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED
None of the suggestions in the prior replies below worked. I was, however, finally able to get the card readers on both machines working again.
1. I made sure that all Realtek Card Reader 2.0 software under the 'Programs and Features' control panel option was uninstalled (I had tried to install latest driver updates from Realtek as part of the debugging process). This alone did nothing even after a restart.
2. With the computer off, I removed the cover from the computer and unplugged the USB 2.0 connector for the card reader from the motherboard.
3. With the computer fully started up again, I plugged the USB connector for the card reader back into the motherboard. The computer recognized the reader, it showed up again in the device manager. The card reader is now working.

Realtek Usb 2.0 Card Reader Driver Update
It is worth noting that the card reader on one of the computers regressed to not working again after a few restarts. I again unplugged and re-plugged the card reader from the motherboard, and it came right back to life. Seems to still be working after several more restarts.
